Salicylic acid

ACTION: Unclogs pores.

DESCRIPTION: Salicylic acid is a beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) that is oil-soluble and can therefore penetrate oil-plugged pores. This ingredient is often found in acne-fighting creams, lotions and pads. It prevents the formation of blackheads and whiteheads by penetrating into the follicle and destroying the plug and shedding the cells lining the follicles. Salicylic acid should be used as a continual treatment because the pores can become clogged up again once you stop.
