DESCRIPTION: Tea tree oil is a yellowish tinged essential oil derived from Melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree). Tea tree oil exhibits broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity, meaning it has antiseptic and antifungal action that is shown to be helpful in treating various skin ailments, including acne. It is less drying than benzoyl peroxide, so if you develop skin irritation such as peeling and redness from benzoyl peroxide, tea tree oil can be a more suitable alternative.
