  • Eat well-balanced meals. Good nutrition is so important to your skin's health that if you fall even a tad short of certain nutrients, you're likely to see some skin-related symptoms. Biotin, for example, is a nutrient that forms the basis of skin, nail and hair cells, and deficiency can lead to dermatitis (an itchy, scaly skin reaction). Vitamins C and E act as antioxidants by reducing the damage caused by free radicals, while vitamin A is necessary for the maintenance and repair of skin tissue.

  • Get your beauty rest. Frequent late-nights can cause your skin to suffer. Sleep is the time when the skin repairs itself, so make sure you are getting enough zzs every night.

  • Quit smoking. Smoking dramatically impairs blood circulation under the surface of the skin. That's why smokers' skin looks dry, dull and gray. Free radicals from the smoke also oxidizes the skin, accelerating the skin's aging process.

  • Get active. Exercise boosts blood circulation and keeps your skin glowing with health. Aim for a minimum of 30 minutes of workout at least 3 to 4 times a week.

  • Stay happy. Emotional stress can traumatize skin. Learning to unwind with calming techniques such as practising yoga or meditation or just listening to relaxing music not only helps lift your spirits, it'll benefit your skin too!
