6. Cut back on sugary snacks

You can indulge in desserts, but have them during mealtimes and clean your teeth afterwards. Sugary foods are associated with tooth decay -- the sugars form acids which can attack the tooth surface. For between-meal snacks, try low-sugar choices like cheese, vegetable sticks, plain popcorn and nuts instead.
