Birth: Week 38-42
A mother's due date marks the end of her 40th week. A pregnancy begins with implantation and the due date can be calculated using the first day of the last period.
The majority of babies are delivered from two weeks before (38 weeks) to two weeks (42 weeks) after the due date. Because of safety reasons, most babies are delivered -- inducing labor if necessary -- by 42 weeks.
