| | 10 / 12 Month 9 (Week 36)
By the ninth month, the average baby is about 47 cm (18.6 inches) and weighs 2.6 kilograms (5.8 pounds). The brain has been developing rapidly and the lungs are nearly fully developed. The baby continues putting on half a pound a week until about week 37, at which weight gain slows down. A pregnancy is considered 'at term' once 37 weeks has been completed -- baby is due to arrive anytime! You may feel Braxton Hicks contractions, which get your body ready for labor. The baby's head is usually positioned down into the pelvis by now -- called lightening -- which can cause some pressure on the pelvic floor.
